My fiancee and I are planning our honeymoon there (2 weeks April 12th through 24th of ‘08), and he thinks it’s going to be cold (cold enough for thermals). We are visiting England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland. How DO we need to dress for this time of year?

Is there any parts of the UK that have fair weather like coastal California throughout the year? Or does it get really cold in the UK during winter times because it’s so close to the arctic circle or north pole or whatever. Are there any places that aren’t humid and sticky, but nice and cool? [...]
I would like to go next year, as a backpacker. I would like to visit London, Edinburg, and maybe a short trip to some part of Ireland, could be Dublin (I know, I know, only North Ireland is part of the UK…). I appreciate your help
